David Crausby MP is calling on the Chancellor to reduce Beer Duty in the next budget.
Beer duty was reduced by 1p in each of the last three years and it is estimated that this has led to an additional 19,000 jobs in pubs and breweries and helped to deliver an expected £1 billion of investment in the sector during 2015-16.
The Bolton North East MP has written to the Chancellor to ask him to consider once again reducing Beer Duty by 1p to help pubs and breweries across the country as well as giving some relief to those struggling with the cost of living.
David Crausby said:
“I don’t want to see more pubs closing in Bolton but there’s a real chance that could happen if the Chancellor decides to raise beer duty in the budget. I’m urging the Government to look at the evidence and consider a further cut to secure jobs, help keep pints affordable and support local businesses.”
