Hello and welcome to the second issue of Chai Times, your community newspaper for Great Lever and Bolton.Firstly I would like to say thank you for the overwhelming response to Issue 1 and for all the positive feedback. It really made the effort worthwhile.
Some important events are coming up and Sunday March 8th sees International Women’s Day 2015. The theme this year is Make It Happen and all around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality. It is remarkable to think that the first International Women’s Day was held in 1911; this year will see thousands of events to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women, including events here in Bolton of course.
Bolton’s Global Market will be back with a great range of Continental traders on Victoria Square from Thursday 12th March to Sunday 15th March 2015. A selection of traders from around the world will be offering a mouth-watering selection of foods, gifts and crafts, so this may be well worth a visit.
Chai Times aims to focus primarily on local events and issues, but we are part of a much bigger picture of course, and external events have an impact on all of our lives. Thursday 7th May sees the UK General Election – an important day for the whole country and a chance for the electorate to have their say about the future of our community and our nation. In the next issue of Chai Times we will highlight some of the key issues, particularly those affecting Bolton and Greater Manchester as a whole, in the run-up to
Election Day.
My thanks, once again, to all who have given their support to
Chai Times. I hope you enjoy reading this issue and all of us here at
Chai Times welcome your comments and suggestions for future
issues of your local community newspaper.
Best wishes
