Hello and a welcome to Issue 4 of CHAI TIMES – YOUR Community Newspaper. We have tried to maintain our blend of news, interesting and though-provoking features and helpful tips and information. We have tried our best to ensure there’s something for everybody. In this issue we have features on the recent Africa Day event at Bolton College, the Bolton International Writing Project, the SHAK UTSAV at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Arts and Culture Centre, the volunteer work being undertaken by the Help the Homeless and Needy group and much, much more. This is the Holy month of Ramadan, and is a period of prayer, fasting, charity- giving and self-accountability for Muslims in the United Kingdom. Iron Man UK returns to Bolton on Sunday, July 19th. The ‘running’ part of this increasingly popular event will begin at the Macron Stadium and the route will take athletes through Horwich and into Bolton via Chorley New Road, Bark Street, Knowsley Street and into Victoria Square. Bolton Food and Drink Festival celebrates its 10th birthday this year and from 28th to 31st August the town centre will become a dream destination for foodies. Events will include specialty markets, cookery demonstrations and live music and Celebrity chefs. We have started a new feature of COMMUNITY RECIPE. This Issue’s prize goes to Farzandah Razzaq, sponsored by Beeutifulbrides.co.uk. Please send in your recipes to win vouchers, prizes, discounts and meal deals. We have expanded our volunteer base from Bolton College to wider community and are pleased to announce our COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS. They are our links into community stories, events and reporting. If you would like to be our Community Ambassador, please get in touch. Once again, we would like to thank everyone, especially BIG BOLTON FUND, who have given their support to Chai Times. Please remember – this is YOUR community newspaper and, as ever, we look forward to receiving your feedback, suggestions and contributions.
Best wishes
