4th August 2017, LONDON: The inaugural ‘Festival of Education’, a first of its kind, two-day convocation powered by GEMS Education, the world’s largest private K-12 school education provider, in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan, is set to take place at the Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre on the 5th and 6th of August 2017. The Festival of Education has been incepted to celebrate the future of education, facilitating knowledge exchange and exploring a new world of possibilities for Education in Rajasthan and the “New India” with clear actions and solutions. An unprecedented event, the festival will see over 1,00,000 global innovators, academicians, faculty, change-makers, vice chancellors, educationalists, teachers, students, parents, scientists, and policy makers under one roof, united by the same goal – to give shape to the future of education through discourse, discussion and debate.

The Festival of Education will entertain and inspire in equal measure and will be divided into three experience zones which include Fundamental to capture high-level, thought-leadership panel discussions led by international stalwarts in the field of education and policy and game changers who play a fundamental role in shaping the future of the youth and in turn the future of India; Elemental, themed around Earth, Water, Wind, Fire and Aether to feature conversations by high-profile personalities from all walks of life, derived from these elements, to encapsulate a holistic learning; and Experimental, a special curated zone where governments exhibit technology that will drive the future of education.

 

Several high-profile figures from the UK will attend the Festival of Education in Jaipur to participate in sessions in the Fundamental Hall, as the UK and India celebrate 70 years of close ties. This hall will capture high-level, thought-leadership panel discussions led by international stalwarts in the field of education and policy makers and game changers who play a fundamental role in shaping the future of the youth, and in turn the future of India.

Topics that will see participation from UK dignitaries include

· Keynote address by The Rt Hon. Baroness Usha Prashar, Member, House of Lords, UK and Deputy Chair, British Council during the opening session

· How to Improve Government Schools – Sir Michael Wilshaw, Professor of Education, St. Mary’s University, London and Professor Lord Patel of Bradford OBE, Member House of Lords, UK and Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, and University Director of Strategic Partnerships, University of East London will be joined by Anil Swarup, Secretary (SE&L), Ministry of Human Resource Development, India and Urvashi Sahni, Founder, President and CEO, Study Hall Educational Foundation. The session will be moderated by Dr. Arun Kapur, Director, Vasant Valley School, Delhi

· Leading a Skills Revolution – Changing Mindsets, Transforming Lives with Dame Asha Khemka DBE (Principal and Chief Executive, West Nottinghamshire College Group)

· Challenges and Opportunities for Educational Innovation in a Change-Resisting System with Charles Parker, CEO, Baker Dearing Educational Trust, London. The session will be moderated by Yogini Joglekar, APAC Director, Corporate and Academic Relations, Mounbatten Institute

· The School of the Future: Technical Skills and Innovative Delivery Models with Geoffrey Fowler, Principal and CEO, London Design & Engineering UTC, London. The session will be moderated by Malini Sen, Senior Editor, Times of India

His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, UAE will be the Guest of Honour and the keynote speaker at the Festival of Education and will deliver the Keynote Address.

Other features of the event include cultural presentations by schools and universities, a Tweetathon to launch the largest conversation on education on twitter over 24 hours, featuring 100 panellists spanning educatalysts, policy makers and even Bollywood stars, and a one of its kind felicitation ceremony in India to spotlight some of the finest works from teachers in India.
