Researchers in the USA have found that  fructose, the sugar found in fruit, can increase craving for high calorie foods. In a small study, volunteers consumed a sugary drink containing fructose one day and one containing glucose on another. Brain scans showed that they reacted more strongly to pictures of food after eating the fructose drinks.
