RISING STARS Jobs, Skills and Activity Fair

a

Bolton Council and Bolton College organised a ‘Rising Stars Jobs, Skills and Activity Fair’ on Saturday 6th June, at Pikes Lane Primary School and Deane and Derby Learning Centre. Activities running throughout the day included information and advice from Bolton College, Bolton Community and Voluntary Services (CVS) and Bolton University. There was hand massage, glitter tattoos (very popular with the many young children present!) and create crafts which included herb planting, snack and chat cookery demonstrations, basic computers and a scarf-tying workshop. A cooking class is a regular feature at the Deane and Derby Learning Centre and the demonstrations on this day were attended by people of both sexes, who found the demonstrations and instructions very helpful and informative. These included spicy chicken in puff-pastry cases and a pasta salad and your Chai Times reporters, who felt obliged to sample the wares on your behalf, are happy to inform you that they were absolutely delicious and greatly enjoyed by those present for the demonstrations and others in the centre and the primary school for the Rising Stars fair. The day was well-attended and proved very popular, was rounded off with a fashion catwalk, where clothing made by students at the Deane and Derby Learning Centre were modelled by the students themselves, to enthusiastic applause.
