Bolton’s successful Teenage Market will be back in town tomorrow (Saturday, March 4).
The market gives young people, aged 13 to 25, an opportunity to showcase their business ideas as well as their musical and dramatic talents.
The Teenage Market is a nationwide initiative set up by teenage brothers Joe and Tom Barratt from Stockport as a way to support local young people and transform town centres.
Last year, Bolton Council organised two successful markets with the brothers, and three will be taking place this year.
The first event will take place tomorrow (March 4), in Victoria Square, from 10am to 4pm. It will also be held on May 13 and September 23.
Around 20 independent entrepreneurs will be selling items ranging from cakes, chocolates to jewellery and crafts.
Bolton Lads and Girls Club, YMCA Bolton, Bolton Youth Council and Castle Hill Youth Centre will also be trading at the event.
A stage will also showcase live music from young bands and singers, with Bolton FM compering.
Duo Patrick and Will are first on at 11am, followed by Samba band Bloco Ashe at noon. Four piece rock band Ghost Cheeks will then take to the stage at 1pm, a range of singers will be performing at 2pm, and Motion Bridge will rock Bolton at 3pm.
Visitors can also have a go at a range of sports including football, boxing, martial arts and basketball.
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, said: “It’s going to be a great event and I am delighted that we can once again give young people a free platform to showcase their business talents and creative skills.”
Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, added: “We are delighted that Bolton Council is holding these markets and supporting young people.”
